Sundar Singh Gurjar (born 01 Jan 1996) is an Indian Paralympic javelin thrower ,shot putter and discus thrower competing in F46 events.[1] He set a world record at the 16th Para Athletics National Championship in Panchkula holding three gold medals in three events at one time.

Early Life and Background[edit]

Singh was born in 1996 and hails from the Karauli district in Rajasthan. Till November 2015, Sundar was competing in General Category. But, he lost his left hand in an accident . He met Dronacharya Awardee coach R. D. Singh in December 2015 who runs a training center for para-athletes at hanumangarh in Rajasthan from that point was coached by R. D. Singh

Career[edit]

Sundar Singh Gurjar came to fame in 2016 when he registered the `A` qualification mark for the 2016 Rio Paralympics with a performance of 59.36m in 8th Fazza IPC Athletics Grand PrixDubai. At the time of his first trip to Dubai his family couldn't afford his trip So his coach R. D. Singh afford his first international Championship cost.[2] He created a national record with 68.42m during the 16th Para Athletics National Championship in Panchkula.[3] He was one of India's top medal prospects at the Paralympic Games.[4] Mahaveer Saini is personal coach of Sundar Singh Gurjar in Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Sundar Singh Gurjar, India's big medal hope in the men's javelin throw at the Rio Paralympics, did not start his event after failing to be present at the time of roll call.[5] [6] It was a sure-shot gold medal and the record would have lasted for years but It is tragic miss. [7][8]Still Sundar Singh Gurjar didn't lose hope and worked hard and By Gods grace in 9th FAZZA IPC Athletics Grand Prix ,Sundar Singh Gurjar won 3 Gold Medals in 3 Events -Javelin Throw,Shot Put and Discus Throw under the coaching of Mahaveer Prasad Saini.
